Want to be a Dial-A-Mum?

What qualifications do I need?
The only qualifications necessary are:

Do I attend a training course?
There is a 12 session training course run by the experienced Dial-A-Mum volunteers assisted by members of our Professional Advisory Panel. The initial training course is followed up by fortnightly workshops for debriefing and supervision.

Who are the Professional Advisors?
Professional Advisers are appointed to the service by the Board of Management. Their areas of expertise are Mental Health, Women's Health & Community Welfare. They work in co-operation with the experienced Dial-A-Mum Volunteers to conduct the initial training and ongoing workshops which are attended by all members of the service.

Is there ongoing education?
Yes. By holding workshops a sense of group unity and cohesion is developed and a mutually supportive network with the other Dial-A-Mum Volunteers is established. Workshops are planned to provide a balance between sharing of information, supervision/de-briefing and the development of communication skills.
